Family Digital Makers Days were free activity days for young people to attend with parents, offering a range of workshops for beginners and those who are already keen coders and makers. Hands-on workshops included CodeBug, animation, Scratch, Minecraft, VEX Robotics, Micro:bit, app development and games design. Events usually took place on Saturdays from 10.30am-3.30pm and the venue was the Creative and Digital Centre at The Sheffield College’s Hillsborough Campus.
Family Digital Makers Days were supported by the Council and managed by local company Sero Skills with workshops run by the Council’s eLearning Service and Family Learning team, UTC Sheffield, The Sheffield College, and a variety of ad-hoc supporters. These workshops are no longer running but there are other great activities for families that are happening which you can find out about elsewhere on our website.

“Thank you so much for organising such a fantastic day! Both my children, myself and my husband really enjoyed ourselves. My children are excited about the idea of animating and programming, my husband went straight out to buy a Micro:bit, and I now want a Tablet, something I’ve not felt inclined towards before today.” Ruth Post, attended with her husband and 5 and 7 year old children.
